Don’t adjust your set! That is the fabulous Jane Lynch filling in for Rachel Maddow.

The “Glee” star appeared on Maddow’s Wednesday show for an interview, but the first thing viewers saw was her sitting in Maddow’s chair, anchoring her nightly “Best New Thing In The World” segment. She’d even chosen the “thing” herself: a memo from a Republican pollsterĀ advisingĀ the GOP to change its attitudes on gay rights. She said that this shift could be a money-making opportunity for people.

“Some strategists are going to have to make it their specialty to teach Republicans how to be pro-gay while still sounding angry,” she quipped. “That’s a tall order, but the good news is, you can charge more money!”

Lynch was basically note-perfect, even doing the outstretched-arm move that is a favorite of Maddow’s.

When she finished, the camera cut to Maddow, sitting where her guests usually do. “Jane Lynch, you’re the best new thing in the world today!” she crowed. “When you said, ‘folks,’ do I do that?”

“Yes, I was mocking you,” Lynch deadpanned.

Earlier this week, FOX revealed that Sarah Jessica Parker and Kate Hudson will join ā€œGleeā€ for guest arcs in Season 4, and two of the showā€™s continuing stars ā€” Chris Colfer and Lea Michele ā€“ cannot wait.

ā€œIā€™m so excited,ā€ Chris said, responding to the SJP news, while speaking with Access Hollywood at the FOX Upfronts earlier in the week. ā€œIā€™m such a huge fan. Iā€™m really, really excited and I think what they [have] planned for the two characters is going to be really, really great and the fans are gonna be very, very happy.ā€

Lea Michele, whose character, Rachel Berry, will graduate on next weekā€™s ā€œGleeā€ alongside Chrisā€™ Kurt Hummel, hinted that Kateā€™s six-episode arc will relate to her characterā€™s journey beyond McKinley High.

ā€œIā€™m so excited and when I spoke to Ryan [Murphy, ā€˜Gleeā€™sā€™ co-creator] about it [earlier this week], he was telling me about our storyline, I just about died. Weā€™re coming into our fourth season and to be this excited about our storylines and about the people that weā€™re getting to work with, I think, is just really awesome and I think sheā€™s incredible. Sheā€™s one of the best comedic actresses out there right now and so I canā€™t wait to work with her and what he has in store for us is so cool.ā€
